Nothing can fully prepare you for the exhilaration of watching your dream home come to life.  Perhaps the most difficult part of the is waiting until the actual major construction to start.  At the start it may appear as though not much is happening at your homesite.  However this is when much of the behind the scenes work takes place—securing permits, finalizing plans, distributing blueprints to plumbers, electricians and framers, as well as ordering materials.

 

Don’t worry though within a couple of weeks your home site will be humming with activity.  Here is what to expect over the next several months:

Building Your New Home | The Process

  • Stage 1: Foundation

    Home site preparation.

    • Your foundation forms are set

    • In-slab plumbing is installed

    • Concrete is poured and cured

    • Approximate duration: 2-4 weeks

  • Stage 2: Framing

    Wood Frame Work.

    • Wood framing of exterior walls

    • Wood framing of interior walls

    • Wood framing gives homeowner first true sense of

    home's breadth and shape

    • Approximate duration: 2-3 weeks

  • Stage 3: Roofing

    Structure Becomes "Weatherproof".

    • Installation of decking, flashing, and shingles

    • Windows installation

    • Wrap exterior walls with sheathing

    • Approximate duration: 2-4 weeks

  • Stage 4: Drywall Prep

    Electrical and Plumbing.

    • Installation of electrical wiring, outlets and breaker boxes

    • Installation of air conditioning and heating equipment

    • Placement of all plumbing

    • Municipal inspections completed

    • Approximate duration: 2-4 weeks

  • Stage 5: Drywall & Exterior Finish

    Structure starts to take shape.

    • Following inspection completion, exterior and interior wall

    surfaces are covered and finished

    • Brick and/or stucco stone goes up on the outside

    • Drywall is hung and textured

    • Approximate duration: 2-4 weeks

  • Stage 6: Wood Trim & Doors

    Carpentry Work.

    • Finish carpenters install interior doors and molding

    • If needed, staircase railings and balusters installed

    • Approximate duration: 1-4 weeks

  • Stage 7: Counters, Countertops & Paint

    Built-ins.

    • Kitchen and bath cabinets are installed

    • Countertops are set in place

    • Entire interior is primed and painted

    • Approximate duration: 2-3 weeks

  • Stage 8: Fixtures & Flooring

    Finishing Touches.

    • Plumbing fixtures installed

    • Lighting fixtures installed

    • Carpet, tile and/or wood flooring laid

    • Approximate duration: 1-2 weeks

  • Stage 9: Builder Acceptance

    Quality Check.

    • Project manager and Warranty Representative perform

    thorough inspection of home

    • Full review of workmanship to meet high construction

  • Stage 10: Homeowner Introductory Tour

    Welcome Home!

    • Navid takes you on a personal tour to introduce you to your

    new home

    • At this time you will see all of the unique features and

    innovative systems in action

    • In as few as ten days you will have closed on your new

    home and be given your keys to your brand new Devonshire
